For those of you who don't know me, I'm not your friend until we've met in person. My three primary artistic facets are graphic design, photography, and photomanipulation. Occasionally alcohol influences to spout out random and otherwise unacceptable forms of art, and boredom does the same.

There’s nothing I enjoy more than long walks on the beach. Some of my other hobbies include watching the sunset from a picturesque grassy knoll, indulging in fine wine with a scrumptious foie gras dinner, and candlelight conversations on French film.

Oh, and I'm also a bit of a smartass.

PROFESSIONAL UPDATE

The ball is rolling. Literally. I've started a storm from which there is no escaping. Unless you're me. That's the purpose. I just took a test, walked all over it, and am proceeding to the next phases of this multi-stage job application. At least on the civilian side. My military side is being put on hold so that I can get and maintain a civilian career. After that, it looks like EOD, CID, or Cav Scout (all Army) are my top contenders for my military development. Either way, I'm going to try and switch to the Reserve component instead of staying National Guard. In short, plans are moving along rather smoothly, although more slowly than expected.

PERSONAL UPDATE

I can't wait to get out of here. By here I mean home. Yeah, I know I just got back from the box, but still... I can't find a job that hires, and I've been looking and trying since August '08. Even those Vets helping Vets programs won't pick me up. So I'm on my last ditch effort to get some kind of job, hopefully one I like, or its back to the box for me. Not that I care much, I enjoyed my time over there. Wasn't well spent, but it wasn't the nightmare for me that everyone complains about. I have a cushy job. Not that I like that cushy job, but at least I won't be without a skill. I have to stay optimistic about stuff. Usually not my style. I like being a realist, but I'm sure this is not the time or place. Speaking of place, as I write this, I'm in Washington D.C. working on job applications. I flew from Seattle to D.C. to take an hour long test. A test that, as stated above, was a cakewalk. Hell, if I had known it was going to be that easy, I would have slept in another half hour instead of panicking over a study guide from Borders that turned out to be worthless. Oh well. Maybe it will come in handy for a different test somewhere else. For all I know, it could be different. And I can't remember how to do long division by hand. I don't blame me. That's what programming and calculators are for.

Another note, my BlackBerry drowned in a cup of milk. If I don't have your number, and you have mine, do call me and leave a message so that I can resurrect my directory to a SIM phone I bought in Kuwait on the way to Iraq. Thank the gods for pointless spending.

ART UPDATE

Ok, I have my camera loaded, and I'm in my nation's capital. Why am I not out there shooting photos of everything that looks old? Because that would OBVIOUSLY leave me with a bunch of photos of old people like politicians, and no room on my memory card for snapping pics of cool stuff like birds eating each other. They did that in Iraq. Maybe it was the air quality, because after a while, people in my battalion started going zombie-ish with brain hunger on fellow squad-mates. Luckily for me, I'd inhaled enough jet fuel exhaust that my brain was too cooked to go zombie. And I am a ninja. The real reason I'm not shooting photos of cool stuff is because I'm lazy and tired, and accidentally stayed up all night yapping it up. And my computer is broken.

1.2
My Mac OS (you know, the operating system that comes pre-installed when you buy a Mac/Apple computer) refuses to boot. That leaves me without my 1400 dollar Adobe Suite, which has photoshop in it. But oh, my Windows side boots just fine. You'd think it'd be opposite. Anyway, I'm looking at getting a new Mac, and moving all my registered programs to it. It'l be worth the effort, and I may consider getting an entirely separate computer (Windows) for gaming and programming and whatnot. So there you have it. I'm going to ask a friend to help me with a few Photoshoppings until I restabilize my tech status.

Nothin, nothing. Just now getting back into the habit of having an online presence. Sucky part of having a non-artistic life and career is the lack of inspiration for anything original. Unless I happen to be rucking along when something hits. But either way, production is sluggish.

About gas prices; are they ever going to go back down? That would be great. I hope we haven't kissed our under $2 a gallon days goodbye.
